The version that gets universally liked usually takes a lot of energy to maintain.

Overcompensating. Posturing. Performing. Managing every angle of how you come across.

It works, in the sense that people like what they see.
But it's not real, and it's not sustainable. And underneath it is a quiet belief that goes unsaid: that who you actually are wouldn't be enough on its own.

That's the trade nobody tells you about. The performance buys approval. Being real spends some of it.
Worth it.
