I chose the trades because I didnt want to touch a computer, I didnt want to read books, and I didnt want to write papers.
But when I hit the foreman position, I had to do that dreaded paper work👎
and getting my plan out of my head made a world of difference. The biggest was that my plan didnt evaporate the minute my phone rang.

Eventually I began teaching other foremen my best practices, and I learned a super important thing.
- its not about the tool, its about the practice
so heres 3 things to keep in mind if you want to help your foremen with their planning:
✅focus on specific & Measurable
✅identify the tools, equipment, and materials needed for the task
✅Its not about the tool, its about the thinking
so if they are writing their plan down on a piece of sheet rock: GOOD
if they are writing their plan down on a piece of card board: GOOD
if they are reluctant to use the tool but theyre writing the plan down: GOOD
