Finding the Balance in Productivity MMH

In this video, I talk about understanding one's capacity in terms of how much work they can handle in a single day. The discussion includes my journey from physical labour to knowledge work, and the struggle to determine a quantifiable measure of productivity in the latter. Learn about the importance of balancing productive activities with self-care stuff like eating, exercising, and sleeping, as well as maintaining polite conversations. The ultimate question raised involves how we can use our understanding of our capacity to benefit our productivity and overall wellbeing, instead of harming it.

do you even know what your capacity is? I'm talking about the amount of work, the number of tasks that you can get done in a day. When I was out working in the field, when I used to put my hands on them tools, it was pretty easy to quantify how much I could physically get up and install in a day. Because it was a matter of effort, units, and time. When I transitioned into this knowledge work, management, leadership, content creation, these types of things became very difficult because a lot of the stuff that I do, that we do, can't really be counted, um, at the end of the day or even on an hourly basis. So what I did was I put a whole bunch of time in figuring out what was the appropriate number of activities So that I had a very productive day I felt like I contributed to the universe in some way and also left enough time for me to take care of myself and eat and exercise and get Appropriate sleep and be polite and decent to people on the phone And that took me a whole bunch of iterations. And now that I know what my number is, it's very easy for me to plan my days and say yes or no. So the question to you is, what is your capacity? Do you know it and do you let it help you or do you let it hurt you? Be cool and we'll talk at you next time. Peace!
